I Retired from The  Milwaukee Fire Department in December 2013, And now living in Naples Florida since 2014

I want to share a story with you, when I was an active Firefighter. I was working out at the Milwaukee Fire Academy, and  as I was leaving the Fire Academy, I noticed  books in the dumpster.

So yes you guessed it I jumped in! ……. Yes I am a dumpster diver. 😂

I pulled as many books out of the dumpster that would fit in my pickup truck. These books were on their way to the landfill.😮 Not knowing what to do with the books I saved them for many years.I was Determined to keep them for as long as I had to.

The Milwaukee Fire Department Closed Old Engine 23 / Ladder 14 quarters and turned it into a Museum over 10 years ago. 

So I donated the books, and many are on display today. 

In November of 2024 We created a Free Book Pickup Service , ( Give Books Naples ) The  plan is to Rehome as many books and media as we can.

I have reached out to local libraries, and community organizations. This will help reduce landfill waste, and support literacy. We give your pre-loved books and media a new life—all with zero hassle to you.  Donate today and together we can turn your treasures into tomorrow’s stories!
